Basement Mold

Tips for removing basement mold and more.

There are several different types and species of mold that are able to infiltrate our basements. While not all of these are considered dangerous most will cause a reaction in people. In most cases this will depend on what species of mold it is and how much is in the basement.

People who have allergies, asthma, or any type of pulmonary condition are more vulnerable to suffering some type of a reaction from the mold. Also children and infants and anyone who has a suppressed immune system are vulnerable to it and the symptoms it can cause. Too much exposure will put them at risk for developing a fungal infection inside of the lungs.

According to heal research the most common reaction to the mold is an allergic reaction. In small amounts the basement mold will cause a runny nose, sore throat, and itchy eyes. This is similar to the hay fever symptoms and thus can make it more difficult for people to recognize what is really causing it.

It is possible for people to develop asthma as part of the allergic reaction to it. This is a more severe symptom and usually occurs when there are large amounts of mold in the basement or when the person has been exposed to it too many times.

Asthma is a dangerous problem and will become worse when left untreated. This condition is in the lungs and makes it very difficult for the person to breathe normally. Anyone who has a preexisting condition of asthma should find ways to prevent basement mold as much as possible.

It is easy to clean the mold on the surface of walls as soon as you see it and with normal cleaning products. But there are places that have mold which are not visible to us. It is both outdoors and inside of the drywall, ceiling, and even the floors. Air purifiers help to reduce the amount of mold spores contained in the air. To keep the mold from coming back into the home keep it dry and clean as much as possible.

Sinus infections are another health problem that may be caused by mold. When a person is suffering from chronic sinus infections with no apparent viral cause they should consider that it is a reaction to basement mold. While sinus infections are irritating the worst symptom that you will experience is that of a fungal infection.

This will occur inside of the lungs and usually only affects those with weak immune systems. They are some of the hardest things to treat and any medication that they take will have side effects.
