How many times have you had to deal with mold in your home? The basement is a great room to have because it opens up the house – but it is the most vulnerable to being attacked by mold. It is a dark and often damp place – which is a breeding ground for even the most toxic of mold.
When the mold is growing all over the basement we have to bring in the professionals to inspect it and than remove it for us. However, when it is just starting to grow there is something you can do.
You can purchase different types of mold cleaners that will work quickly and are effective at removing the mold from the walls, floors, and clothes. However, this can be quite expensive at times and the smell that it creates is so strong that it can make us sick. Why put yourself through that when you can easily use hydrogen peroxide.
Hydrogen peroxide is very inexpensive and can be used on clothes, appliances, fixtures, and floors. It does not leave behind strong odors like most other cleaners and there are no side effects that you have to worry about. It works great at getting rid of the mold and removing the disgusting smell it creates.
Pour the peroxide into an empty spray bottle (one that has never been used). This will make it easier for you to clean the area without wasting any of it. It is important that you wear latex gloves because it can dry out your skin. Also wear a mask so you do not breathe in the mold spores.
Spray it onto the mold and let it soak for ten minutes. Now scrub the mold and any stains that it has left behind. Wipe the area down with a clean rage and rinse off any peroxide and mold that is left behind.
